Every pickleball player has heard it.
You just finished a tough game. You’re sweaty, your legs are cooked, and you’re already thinking about the drive home… when someone says the four most dangerous words in pickleball:
“One last game?”
Suddenly logic disappears. Your water bottle has been empty for 30 minutes, your calves are starting to cramp, and your phone has three texts from your wife asking where you are.
But you say yes anyway.
And that’s when things go wrong.
The “last game” is when tired legs lead to sloppy footwork, late reactions, and the classic pickleball injury: the hero sprint for a ball you had absolutely no business chasing.
At Pickleball Wired, we’ve seen it hundreds of times. The last game is rarely your best game — it’s usually your most dangerous one.
So the next time someone asks for that one last game, remember:
Sometimes the smartest shot in pickleball…
is walking off the court.
